8/9/2023 0 Comments Web app break reminderThe majority of us know what we have to do, but the battle is fitting it into our busy lives. There are, of course, countless ways that we can be more active with little effort: a stroll after dinner, a walk over to a co-worker in place of sending an email, or standing while typing on the computer. The study found that sitting for less than three hours a day might make us live an extra two years, and cutting TV viewing-which most of us do while sitting-to less than two hours every day may extend life by almost 1.4 years. While sitting is not a disease, but a risk factor, experts say the not-so-good health impact is comparable to obesity, and almost to the level of smoking. If this wasn’t scary enough, a new study published in the online journal BMJ Open finds the risk is even greater than we think. Inactivity has been linked to diabetes and death from heart disease or stroke. One report estimates American adults spend about 55 percent of their time being inactive. While this may seem harmless at first, over a period of time, being sedentary has been linked to shortened lifespan and other health-harming issues. Or, playing on the computer and watching a week’s worth of shows on DVR took over. The end of the day rolls around and 100 emails have been answered, but you’ve failed your personal fitness goal. Many of us start off the day with the best of intentions you’re committed to working out during your lunch break, or plan to do a set of stretches once an hour.

Dale agrees to "only for a minute" sitting next to Kate, scanning her with a metal detector behind her back, and inspecting her food for any 'subconscious thoughts,' resulting in nothing. He intentionally pretends to run into Bill, Charlene, Kate, and Drew eating lunch at a restaurant, where Bill politely asks him to sit with them. Meanwhile, Dale ponders the whole situation. Peggy encourages him to not get 'squeezed out' and fight for his place as the 'third musketeer' to which Bobby effectively intervenes the two. When Bobby walks in, Peggy asks pushily why he isn't with them, to which Bobby replies "it's like they only want to hang out with each other". Peggy looks out the patio doors and is troubled to see Joseph and Kate becoming alarmingly close. Peggy exclaims she cannot keep the secret to herself, and starts thinking of who to tell only to realize they can't tell anyone without it getting out. Hank reveals to Peggy the troubling news, who excitedly says "This is like sitting poolside by freakin' Melrose Place! The only question is: who to call first?" Hank tells Peggy not to as Bill finally has a good girlfriend and shouldn't cause trouble. He expresses what troubles him is why the aliens did this Hank, playing along, replies that aliens are unpredictable and he should do nothing. Dale explains that Joseph was, in his belief, conceived by aliens stealing his DNA who impregnated Nancy, then left his DNA with Charlene in hopes of creating a master race with Dale as the foundation. Dale reveals he compares Kate's DNA with Joseph and they are indeed related and claims that Kate is his daughter. As she continues playing, Joseph stares at her with possible admiration.ĭale returns, first speaking to Hank about her DNA results who responds surprised to Dale's actions. While playing video games, Joseph remarks her being good with the rocket launcher to which, she replies about liking hand grenades and watching the intestines blow out. Dale takes Kate's hair to a DNA lab to get proof she is not human. Kate, unsure, starts to decline but Dale interrupts her and plucks a hair anyways before yelling "You're the winner!" and going over a wooden fence. Just let it go and be happy for Bill." Dale eventually pursues to prove himself right anyways.Īs Bobby, Joseph, Drew, and Kate play Frisbee, Dale suggests to play a game, 'Who-can-pluck-the-longest-hair-from-their-head' and immediately calls Kate to go first. In turn, Hank tells Dale to "Ignore your gut. Later, when Hank discusses Charlene, Dale speaks about Kate, saying "there is something severely unright with that child." and proposes outrageous claims such as she may be 'pod-person', robot, or 'pod-bot' and intended to prove it. Dale looks at her closely and says only, "Good afternoon. Kate compliments Hank's grass as being "beautiful" and "looks just like a golf course". Kate first appears when her mother Charlene drives up to Hank, Dale, and Boomhauer, trying to find Bill's house in turn, she introduced her kids, Kate and Drew. Making a custom typewriter keyboard can take a lot of time, money, and effort in research and planning. But how do they compare to your typical typewriter keyboard? These keyboards look, feel, and sound very different from the typical typewriter keyboard that you’d find on Amazon. If you’ve done a bit of research on typewriter keyboards online, you may have stumbled upon a couple of videos or pictures that showcase custom-made builds. These keycaps are great for RGB keyboards, and they’re commonly found in stock RGB boards. There are also certain subtypes of keycaps, such as backlit keycaps which let the light shine through them. Keycaps can be made out of different materials, including ABS and PBT plastic. In a typewriter keyboard, they are almost always exclusively circular to mimic the design of a typewriter. Keycaps are the plastic pieces that you press on top of your keyboard. Due to the variety of clicky switches these days, those looking to make a customized typewriter keyboard will have a lot of options. Switches are great for typewriter keyboards, and clicky switches are just that: loud switches that make a clicking noise when pressed. Switches are used in mechanical keyboards, so not all typewriter keyboards have mechanical switches. The terms keyboard switch and switch all refer to the same thing: a device that corresponds to a particular key. If the case has too much flex or it bends too much, it can feel cheap. As typewriter keyboards are made to be pretty loud, the acoustics of the case doesn’t matter as much. The Components of a Good Typewriter Keyboard Caseĭepending on the material and shape of the keyboard case, you can get a very different typing sound or feel. They will generally have clicky switches–or have a somewhat clicky sound to them when typed on. Learn more with this brief buyer’s guide! What Is a Typewriter Keyboard?Ī typewriter keyboard is a keyboard that’s designed with visual or tactile elements that resemble the classic typewriter. Typewriter keyboards fill a pretty unique niche in the keyboard space. How to Purchase a Quality Typewriter Keyboard: A Buyer’s Guide the inverse geodesic problem or second geodesic problem, given A and B, determine s 12, α 1, and α 2.Īs can be seen from Fig.the direct geodesic problem or first geodesic problem, given A, α 1, and s 12, determine B and α 2.The two geodesic problems usually considered are: The connecting geodesic (from A to B) is AB, of length s 12, which has azimuths α 1 and α 2 at the two endpoints. Consider two points: A at latitude φ 1 and longitude λ 1 and B at latitude φ 2 and longitude λ 2 (see Fig. 1). It is possible to reduce the various geodesic problems into one of two types. N is the north pole and EFH lie on the equator. A geodesic AB on an ellipsoid of revolution. The adjustment of triangulation networks entailed reducing all the measurements to a reference ellipsoid and solving the resulting two-dimensional problem as an exercise in spheroidal trigonometry ( Bomford 1952, Chap. Every globally-shortest path is a geodesic, but not vice versa.īy the end of the 18th century, an ellipsoid of revolution (the term spheroid is also used) was a well-accepted approximation to the figure of the Earth. Short enough segments of a geodesics are still the shortest route between their endpoints, but geodesics are not necessarily globally minimal (i.e. This definition encompasses geodesics traveling so far across the ellipsoid's surface that they start to return toward the starting point, so that other routes are more direct, and includes paths that intersect or re-trace themselves. However, it is frequently more useful to define them as paths with zero geodesic curvature-i.e., the analogue of straight lines on a curved surface. A simple definition is as the shortest path between two points on a surface. There are several ways of defining geodesics ( Hilbert & Cohn-Vossen 1952, pp. Finally, if the ellipsoid is further perturbed to become a triaxial ellipsoid (with three distinct semi-axes), only three geodesics are closed. Furthermore, the shortest path between two points on the equator does not necessarily run along the equator. However, Newton (1687) showed that the effect of the rotation of the Earth results in its resembling a slightly oblate ellipsoid: in this case, the equator and the meridians are the only simple closed geodesics. If the Earth is treated as a sphere, the geodesics are great circles (all of which are closed) and the problems reduce to ones in spherical trigonometry. The solution of a triangulation network on an ellipsoid is therefore a set of exercises in spheroidal trigonometry ( Euler 1755). A geodesic is the shortest path between two points on a curved surface, analogous to a straight line on a plane surface. The figure of the Earth is well approximated by an oblate ellipsoid, a slightly flattened sphere. The study of geodesics on an ellipsoid arose in connection with geodesy specifically with the solution of triangulation networks. 8/9/2023 0 Comments Fragment definition artOutside of the faculty of the Bauhaus, Klee tended to avoid belonging to any group aesthetic or movement. Expressionists, Dadaists, Constructivists, pioneers of abstraction, Surrealists and the emerging Abstract Expressionists of the New York School all either claimed Klee as one of their own or acknowledged the importance of his example. It is also for this reason that Klee’s work was to prove such a major influence upon a whole range of different and often diametrically opposed art movements, back in a time when art had movements. Klee was an artist who could apply his vision to almost any pictorial style and his art is virtually unique in the history of early Twentieth Century modernism in that he is probably the only leading avant-garde figure to have allowed his work to roam freely between the organic and the geometric, the constructive and the intuitive, the figurative and the abstract and, as in a work such as Reste eiener Burg for example, between the purely linear and the completely chromatic. In contrast, the five very diverse paintings in this sale are each prominent examples from some of the most lyrically inventive and more poetic periods in the artist’s career, made during periods when Klee was freer to pursue what he once described as his own “poetic-personal idea of landscape.”Įach work, executed in a range of differing styles and media over an always carefully prepared ground, is a testament to the extraordinary versatility of the artist and to the depth of variation that runs throughout his oeuvre. Klee’s Bauhaus years (1920-31) were ones in which his art often reacted to and occasionally ironized the increasingly Constructivist principles advocated by the school. Executed either between 19 or between 19, the five outstanding works from David Solinger’s collection are ones that effectively bracket the twelve years that Klee spent teaching at the Bauhaus. Solinger Collection demonstrate, the unique pictorial vocabulary that this most literary of artists devised was one that often actively attempted to fuse the worlds of the visible and the legible into a revelatory new pictographic language. “I am, after all, a poet” Klee once noted in this regard and, as many of his works in The David M. Ultimately, the “ur-reality” that such a process revealed was one that, in the hands of an artist of Klee’s extraordinarily fecund imagination and genius, had the ability to resonate with such power that it instilled in the viewer a profoundly poetic and often deeply moving sense of universal truth and ancient wisdom.Īugust Macke and Paul Klee in front of a mosque in Tunisia, 1914. what we see more or less with our senses, but visible the things we watch in secret” (Paul Klee, from a lecture given in Jena in 1924, cited in Hans Jaffe, Paul Klee, London, 1971, p. For Klee, who often described drawing as “taking a line for a walk,” the creation of a work of art was the result of a meditative and near-mystical practice in which “our beating heart pushes down, down to the primitive depths what is produced by this movement could.be called a dream, or idea, or fantasy certain curious things become a reality, the reality of art, which widens life more than seems possible…. Both Klee and Jung, (who was himself an artist), saw the process of creation as a psychological journey. This “deeper” reality is a mysterious and primordial realm, often rendered by Klee as a magical landscape full of ambiguous symbols, pictorial metaphors and archetypes reminiscent in some respects of the domain of the “collective unconscious” imagined and championed by his contemporary, and fellow Swiss-German, the psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung. Art, “does not repeat the visible,” Klee famously insisted, but instead it “makes visible” a deeper, hidden reality known, unconsciously perhaps, only to the heart and soul of man. For, therein is nature reborn” (Paul Klee, One Modern Art, London, 1954, p. The “creation of a work of art” Paul Klee said, “must… be accompanied by distortion of the natural form. Larger buffer sizes take the strain off the computer, for more reliable click-free performance, but introduce potentially problematic amounts of latency, as they constantly fill up with and empty out the streaming audio. The bulk of latency is caused by the digital audio signal being passed through the computer’s RAM on its way to be recorded to and played back from the slightly slower mechanical hard disk. The A-D and D-A converters in interfaces all produce a very small amount, but that’s typically only about a millisecond or so, which is insignificant from a musical standpoint. There are a few technical causes of latency. In simple playback situations like mixing with nobody performing live, it shouldn’t be noticeable at all, but in live recording sessions, where the player/singer is monitoring their own part while playing as it’s running through the computer/DAW, then it can potentially be audible, and possibly problematic. There’s always some amount of latency present, but it can range from vanishingly small and virtually imperceptible to enough of a lag that musicians can feel like they’re hearing their part as a slight echo in the headphones. Technically, latency means “wait time”, and it’s a result of the technical process by which audio is recorded and played back in any digital audio rig. Delay ThatĪ quick primer (or refresher): Monitoring Latency is the (inevitable) delay in an audio signal passing through a computer/DAW. Here are a few considerations to bear in mind when deciding what the optimal latency setting should be for a DAW setup, from the standpoint of its potential musical significance. While they know that, in general, low latency is a “good thing”, they’re not quite sure just how low they should go, or try to go, or what practical effect that may have. But outside of the ranks of more tech-savvy DAW operators, many producers and engineers only have a basic understanding of Latency. The latest high-end, high speed computer connections-Thunderbolt and USB3-promise the possibility of ultra-low latency settings, and manufacturers are quick to tout that advantage.
